From our devotionals last week we learned that Abram was a great man. He was known throughout the land as being wealthy and having hundreds of servants. He was known by kings for being brave and willing to fight for what was right. Most importantly Abram was known by God as a faithful servant. God blessed Abram. God promised Abram that a great nation would come from him and he would be a blessing to all people because Jesus would be his descendent. Abram and his wife Sarai were now old. People must have thought Abram was a little crazy when he said that Sara and he would have a child. Abram may have told them "God promised Sarai and me a child!" Painfully for years and years Sarai and Abram waited for God to act. But they just got older and more embarrassed. Finally Sarai decided to do things her way. She told Abram to take her young maid Hagar as his second wife then Hagar would give them a baby.*
Sin is when we do things our way instead of God's way. In some situations having faith in God means having patience and waiting for Him to act. God may seem slow as we count slowness but He has the perfect timing for the right things to happen in our lives.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.*
If you are growing impatient because God seems slow then ask Him to lead you in His truth and teach you about why you are having to wait. The good news is God is only slow to anger and judgement hoping that none should perish*.
Genesis 15-16, Psalm 25:5, 2 Peter 3:9 (NASB)
