Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. The LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them." But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD... Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.
The first man disobeyed God and sinned. That caused a terrible separation between man and God. Man had become so bad that God was sorry He made man. What a difference from just after God had finished creation and He said "it is good". God is deeply upset because of man. Yet, God has a plan; a plan of hope, a plan to save, because one man found favor in His eyes. What a wonderful thing to have God look on you and find favor. God looked on Jesus and said:
You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.*
So, what can we do? God sees all our sins and even our good works to God is like filthy rags*.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
The good news is that you can be clothed with Christ by turning away from your sin and receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Then clothed with Christ you have found favor in the eyes of God.
