Paul And Barnabus In Turkey

Paul and Barnabas are teaching the good news to the people of Lystra. Paul sees that a lame man has the faith to be healed, so he says to him:   "Stand upright on your feet." And he leaped up and began to walk. When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they raised their voice, saying in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have become like men and have come down to us." And they began calling Barnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds.   Now after the miracle, people were confused because they still believed in the false Greek gods. Paul and Barnabas have to try to correct the people's wrong thoughts. It is not easy to correct people when they are wrong, especially a crowd of people. Paul remembers that at one time he was wrong, and God corrected him. So Paul has a good understanding of how easy it is to be confused and wrong. Do you find it hard to correct a group of people when they are wrong?   Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD.   Now the crowd wanted to honor Paul and Barnabas as Greek gods. Paul and Barnabas want the Lord Jesus Christ to receive the credit because they know it was by His power that the lame man was healed. So they will be quick to correct the people.
