Jesus Heals The Blind Man
They brought to the Pharisees the man who was formerly blind. Now it was a Sabbath on the day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight. And he said to them, "He applied clay to my eyes, and I washed, and I see." Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, "This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath." But others were saying, "How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?" And there was a division among them. So they said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."
The blind man witnesses to the Pharisees. He tells them what Jesus has done in his life. This is what God wants us to do. God knows that when we witness it may not be welcomed by our audience. In some cases they may get very upset. This should never deter us from telling people what Jesus has done in our lives. Again and again Jesus was criticized for healing on the Sabbath.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy....the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work.
The Pharisees accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath by making mud to heal the man and that would be considered work. Jesus said:
"For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."*
Do you think the Lord of the Sabbath should be doing God's holy work of healing people on a holy day?
