Jesus And The Fisherman

Based on the Bible but not exactly the Bible. Simon and his brothers had spent a discouraging night out on the Sea of Galilee trying to catch fish. They did not catch one. Because of this they were finishing cleaning their nets early and they noticed a large crowd was forming around a stranger. Simon asked one in the crowd, who is this man? Jesus! the man excitedly replied. He is a great teacher and speaks the Words of God. Simon had a hard time seeing Jesus because it was so crowded. Simon noticed the crowd was moving with Jesus toward his boat.   And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to pull out a little ways from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat.*   The Words of Jesus' made Simon feel so close to God. Jesus' Words gave Simon hope even after a discouraging night. Jesus came to Simon when Simon was discouraged, tired and feeling defeated. What do you think would have happened if Simon were selfish and told Jesus: "Look, I am tired, that is my boat. Get out of it! I want to go home and go to sleep!"? Simon did not say that. Simon was willing to share his boat and give of his time. God wants us to have a giving attitude. Do you have a giving attitude? Jesus said "Give, and it will be given to you."* And that is good news. Luke 5:3, Luke 6:38 (NASB)
