Jesus And The Fisherman

Based on the Bible but not exactly the Bible. The morning sun rose over the Sea of Galilee and helped four tired fishermen see as they cleaned their nets. They were so tired and disappointed because they had been out on the lake all night and did not catch one fish. They tried everything, but ended up in failure and discouragement. James and John thought, what would their father Zebedee think? Maybe they could all sneak off to sleep without having to talk with him. Simon and his brother Andrew struggled to clean their nets with ice cold fingers. Little did the four of them know that this would be the day when they would meet Jesus. As the sun rose and shed its light and warmth on the lake so would the light and warmth of Jesus fill the dark cold emptiness of their lives. Jesus would change their lives forever. That is what Jesus does. The following is a song written by David hundreds of years before these fishermen lived, but the song spoke to the heart of these discouraged men.   I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.*   Jesus saves and brings hope and that is good news. John 5, Psalm 40:1-3 (NASB)
