Based on the Bible but not exactly the Bible. For forty days now I have painfully watched Jesus suffer in the wilderness. Why must He suffer like this? There is so much of God's way that I do not understand. Jesus has fasted and has become hungry. Yet I can do nothing. According to the plan I must not be seen and I must stay at a distance. And now to make matters worse the enemy has come to Jesus.
And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.' *
Victory! Yes we in heaven knew that Jesus had won a battle against the tempter. Then I asked: Now can I go to minister and comfort Jesus? No, not yet was the reply.
The enemy of God would like us to think only of satisfying our needs. Jesus was well aware of His need. He was hungry. Jesus did not come to earth to satisfy His needs. However, He could have used His power to make a stone into bread. In the future Jesus was going to perform many amazing miracles that only God could do. Can you think of any miracles that Jesus did to satisfy Himself? If we were to be more like Jesus would we be concerned with our wants or other's needs? The good news is God came to serve and to save us.
