Finally the day came when Esther sailed with another missionary for Peru. As soon as they arrived, she began her work near the coast. Soon she was very busy teaching Bible classes, English classes and visiting in the homes of the people. Besides this she cared for the motherless children of another missionary, Mr. Winans. Later, she married him and together they continued working, studying, praying, and doing everything they could to give the gospel to the people of Peru. With all her work on the coast she still looked to the tall mountains in the east hoping and praying for the opportunity to climb them and give the good news to the people living there.
Esther involved herself in helping others. There was plenty to be done.
Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works."*
Esther showed her faith in the Lord Jesus by her works. Her work was to please the Lord Jesus in all that she did. Is your work to please yourself or please your Lord?
