"Esther, Where are you?" "Here, Mother," Esther would answer from her favorite perch in the apple tree. Her mother didn't need to ask what she was doing - she knew. For Esther always liked to climb a tree and study languages. She liked all languages, but her favorites were Spanish, French and German. Esther loved the out-of-doors too: the sky, birds, flowers, trees, rain and sun. She always wanted to be out of doors and was never afraid of anything. From the time she was five years old, Esther knew that someday she would be a missionary. All through her school life she thought and planned on it. After she had finished school, God seemed to be leading her toward a Spanish-speaking people, so when her mission board asked her if she would go to Peru, she gladly said yes.
God has created each of us as a unique human being. David of the Old Testament said:
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works,*
God gave each of us different bodies, minds and interests. No matter how God made you, He did a wonderful work. Do not compare yourself to others.
God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...*
As you draw near to God, He will show you what do with the wonderful life He has given you. That is good news!
Psalm 139:14, James 4:6-8 (NASB)
