Mission - Uganda 1

This story takes place almost two hundred years ago. In the very heart of Africa there is a wonderful country called Uganda. When Henry M. Stanley, the man who found Livingston, sailed over the great lake Victoria Nyanza - the second largest lake in the world which he had named in honor of England's Queen - Queen Victoria, - he met with a great surprise. When he landed he was met on shore by a great crowd. Two thousand people, in two long rows, were lined along the road from the lake to the king's village. They were all beautifully neat and clean in their long white robes with their chiefs dressed in bright scarlet gowns. They were there ready to welcome the white traveler; for two nights before the queen had dreamed that she saw a beautiful vessel with white wings like a bird and a white man with long black hair was standing on board, and the king believing the dream had sent to welcome the white man and lo! The dream came true! Mr. Stanley was on a venture to find Dr. Livingston. He traveled thousands of miles away from home with no easy way to contact anyone. There was no such thing as phones, computers, fax machines, or televisions, and where he was going there was no post office. No one in Africa knew that he was coming. And yet, God knew and God prepared a welcome for Mr. Stanley. It is amazing to think about, but God prepares the way for us no matter where we go. We may make wonderful plans of where we will go and what we will do but God controls our steps. God's word says:   The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.   If we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then our steps will be directed to heaven where we will be received with rejoicing. Read the good news and may the Lord Jesus direct your steps toward heaven.
