Here is a fun and exciting game that can be played by one or more children. The Yo! game is played very much like Bingo.
ITEMS NEEDED: You will need four items to play Yo! First you will need to down load and print out the game sheets (see the button below). The game sheets are in PDF format. Try clicking on the button below. If you have a problem opening the Game file then you may not have the PDF Reader on your computer. Click on the PDF reader button and receive a FREE version of this software for your computer. The next item you will need are the Yo! Game tokens and a bag to put them in. Click on Yo! tokens button. Again this will be in PDF format. Print it out and follow the directions included for making the tokens. The third item you need is some reward for winning Yo! You may choose candy or Yo! stickers which can be found by clicking on the Yo! sticker button to the left. Lastly you will need a Yo! teacher to read the questions for the game.
DIRECTIONS: The game is played like Bingo. The object is to check off letters across the game sheet in a straight line (across, down, or on the diagonal) and win Yo! Everyone can check off the letters that are picked out of the token bag. When a game player wins it is tradition ot yell out Yo!
The game is started when all players have a different game sheet. Each player only gets one game sheet. The first question is read by Yo! teacher. The game player who answers the question correctly gets to pick ONE token out of the bag. That player lets everyone know what letter they picked. Those that have the letter on their game sheet will mark it off. The game continues to be played only after everyone is quiet. The next question is asked. As each question is asked and more letters are chosen more players have a chance to win. A player can win more than once. A player can also win in more than one way. For example if a player answers the question correctly and picks the special "Yo!" token, that individual ALONE has won Yo! (gets their prize) and gets to pick another token out of the bag and call it out to the group. The game encourages players to participate and listen to the message so they can answer the questions correctly.
The game is played best with about six players but it can be played with more or as few as one. If the game is played with only one player, that player gets one chance to answer, like with all Yo! games, but if they do not answer the question correctly, the Yo! teacher picks the token out of the bag.
The Yo! teacher decides when the game ends. It may be after all the questions have been answered or as time permits.
