Based on the Bible but not exactly the Bible.
It is early in the morning and the sun is rising on a very sad scene at the city gate of Nain. It is a funeral procession slowly leaving the city. At the side of the coffin is Nita who has lost her one and only son (Yered). She is now a widow with no family. In her grief no relative comforts her, only mourners surround her. Women raise their hands toward heaven and wail out cries of sorrow. Crowds of people looked at Nita and feel sorry for her. They all knew how much Nita loved her son. Who will help Nita now? Some of Yereds' friends carry his coffin. They think, "how could God have let this happen?" They walk to bury the dead, but little do they know that they are walking toward the Resurrection and the Life.
Jesus said:
"I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"*
That morning Jesus saw a very sad scene. He walked toward a funeral. Jesus saw many very sad people and He had compassion on them. He saw many people separated from God, walking toward a hopeless future. They did not know Jesus. Many did not know God. Jesus wants all people to believe in Him, then they can live and have hope. Jesus is about to open the eyes of all these people to hope and life. The light of life is rising this morning on the city of Nain. Think about that!
Do you believe in Jesus? If you have never really thought about it, read the good news!
