Based on the Bible but not exactly the Bible. Jesus is about thirty years old* and today He will start His ministry to the people. John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin has been busy preparing the way for Jesus. John would tell people that they were sinners, that they needed to change their ways and be baptized. I watched as Jesus met His cousin John the Baptist at the Jordan River. To the amazement of all the people John said "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" I was surprised. Why did John refer to Jesus as a lamb? How would Jesus take away the sin of the world? Then Jesus surprised John when He asked to be baptized...   But, John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?" But Jesus answering said to him, "Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted Him. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."

This is a very important time in Jesus' life. Jesus is being introduced to the world to begin His ministry. John surprised the people and maybe some angels when he said: "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" The people knew that lambs were sacrificed in the Temple for the forgiveness of sins. Do you think they wondered how or when Jesus would be sacrificed for their sins? God introduced Jesus as His Son. This must have also surprised the people. Imagine, God's Son walking among them, in the flesh! How would you have reacted if you were there that day? This is only the beginning of wonderful yet surprising things to come. It's good news!
